Description

Indications

Finerenone is indicated for the management of chronic kidney disease in adult patients who have type 2 diabetes. Chronic kidney disease is a condition that results in kidney damage, which may progressively worsen and eventually lead to kidney failure. This medication is intended to mitigate the risk of deteriorating kidney function, hospitalization due to heart failure, as well as life-threatening heart and blood vessel diseases or a heart attack.

Finerenone is classified as a mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonist and functions by impeding the action of specific steroids produced in the body that may be harmful to the heart and kidneys.

Uses and Dosage

Administer this medication orally as per your doctor’s instructions, either with or without food, typically once daily.

To mitigate the risk of side effects, your physician may advise commencing treatment with a low dose and gradually increasing the dosage. Comply with your doctor’s instructions.

In the event that swallowing the tablets whole is difficult, you can crush the tablet and mix it with soft foods (such as applesauce) or water. Consume the entire mixture immediately, without preparing a supply for future use.
