Drug Description:

This medicine is used to temporarily relieve cough due to minor throat and lung irritation caused by the common cold or inhaled irritants. It helps loosen mucus and thin lung secretions to make breathing easier, drain bronchial tubes, and make coughs more productive.Store between 59 and 86 degrees F.How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. Do not use this medicine for persistent or chronic cough, such as occurs with smoking, asthma, or emphysema, or if the cough occurs with excessive mucus unless directed by a health care provider. This medicine may cause drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Do not take this medicine if you are currently using or have used an MAO inhibitor within the last 2 weeks. If you are uncertain whether your other medications contain an MAO inhibitor, check with your health care provider. Consult a doctor before giving this medicine to children under 6 years of age. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than recommended unless advised to do so by your health care provider.
