Description

Indications

Edoxaban is prescribed to aid in the prevention of strokes or blood clots in individuals with atrial fibrillation, a condition characterized by irregular heart rhythms that increase the risk of clot formation within the body. This use is specifically for cases not attributed to heart valve disease. Edoxaban is also employed to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which involves the formation of blood clots, typically in the leg, and pulmonary embolism (PE), characterized by a blood clot in the lung.

Edoxaban belongs to a class of medications known as factor Xa inhibitors, functioning by impeding the activity of a specific natural substance that plays a role in blood clot formation.
