Description

Indications

Metronidazole is prescribed for the treatment of rosacea, a skin condition characterized by facial redness, flushing, and the presence of pimples. Categorized as a nitroimidazole antimicrobial medication, metronidazole acts by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, thereby addressing the underlying causes of the condition.

Uses and Dosage

Metronidazole is available in the form of a cream, lotion, or gel designed for topical application on the skin. Generally, it is applied once or twice daily.

Follow the prescribed instructions precisely, avoiding any deviations in dosage, frequency, or duration as advised by your doctor.

Avoid using metronidazole topical in or around the eyes, mouth, or vagina.

Take care to prevent metronidazole gel, cream, or lotion from coming into contact with your eyes or mouth. If accidental contact occurs, promptly rinse with plenty of water and promptly inform your doctor.

Before applying the medication, cleanse the affected skin area thoroughly. Then, apply a thin layer of the cream, gel, or lotion to the affected region and gently massage it into the skin. After allowing at least 5 minutes for the medication to dry, you may apply cosmetics to the treated area.
