Drug Description:

In men, this medicine is used for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is also used in women to treat advanced breast cancer, manage endometriosis, and thin the endometrial lining in preparation for a procedure to treat abnormal uterine bleeding.Store at room temperature. Do not store above 77 degrees F.How much medicine you use and how often you use it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are using, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with this medicine. This medicine will usually be given by a health care provider in a medical setting. This medication may occasionally be prescribed for home therapy. If so, carefully follow the storage, preparation, administration, and disposal procedures taught to you by your health care provider. Women — Pregnancy should be ruled out before you start taking this medicine. Women should not become pregnant while taking this medicine. Use a nonhormonal method of contraception (eg, condoms) during treatment and until menstruation returns, or for at least 12 weeks. If pregnancy occurs during treatment, stop using this medicine and talk with your health care provider. Women — Menstruation should stop with the use of this medicine. If menstruation persists, talk with your health care provider. Breakthrough bleeding may occur if you miss taking 1 or more doses of this medication. If you are receiving this medication for breast or prostate cancer, it can cause an initial increase in symptoms (such as bone pain) that should improve after the first few weeks of treatment. This medication should be used by injection every 28 days. Be sure to keep appointments with health care providers. This medicine may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Patients with previous conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements.Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine or to similar medications you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding (female) you have vaginal bleeding of unknown cause (female)Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have any other medical conditionThis medicine is not indicated for use in women and children.Most severe:  Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe heart problems; chest pain; irregular heartbeat.Most common:  Hot flashes; sexual dysfunction; vaginal dryness; moody; headache; breast swelling and tenderness; decreased erections; lower urinary tract symptoms; lack of energy; increased pain; swelling; upper respiratory tract infection; rash; sweating; loss of appetite; dizziness; sleeplessness; nausea.Other:  Anxiety; depression; constipation; diarrhea; ulcers; vomiting; gout; excessive hunger, thirst, or urination; weight gain; chills; fever; urinary tract infection; bone pain.
