Description
Indications
Cabergoline is used to treat elevated prolactin levels in your body. In women, high prolactin can lead to symptoms like unwanted breast milk production, missed periods, and difficulty getting pregnant. In men, it can cause symptoms such as enlarged breasts and reduced sexual ability or desire. Cabergoline is an ergot medication, it works by inhibiting prolactin release from the pituitary gland.
Uses and Dosage
Take this medication orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor, typically twice a week.
Your dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment (prolactin levels). Your doctor will start with a low dose and gradually increase it over several months to minimize side effects. Follow your doctor’s instructions closely.
Take this medication consistently to get the most benefit. To help remember, mark the days on your calendar when you need to take it.
