This medication is used to treat high blood pressure in adults.Store at controlled room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees F). Keep in a tightly-closed container.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Report to your health care provider if you think that you pregnant. Your health care provider should explain to you the danger this medication poses to the unborn child if the medication is taken after the third month of pregnancy. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking with your health care provider. Black patients are at higher risk for certain side effects, and may not respond as well to this medicine as patients of other races. Stop taking this medicine and contact your health care provider if difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, eyes, or tongue occurs. Contact your health care provider if you notice any yellowing of the skin or eyes. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur, especially during the first few days of taking this medication. Lightheadedness can occur if you stand up too fast from lying or sitting. If this occurs, get up slowly and avoid sudden posture changes. If fainting occurs, stop taking this medication until you talk with your health care provider. Patients being treated for high blood pressure may feel tired or rundown for a few weeks after beginning therapy. Continue taking your medicine even though you may feel quite "normal". Before undergoing surgery, tell your health care provider that you are taking this medication or similar medications. This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness. Diabetes patients - This medicine may affect your blood sugar level. Your health care provider may need to change the amount of diabetes medicine you are taking. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking this medication without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications you are past the third month of pregnancyBefore using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have severe liver disease if you have impaired kidney function or progressive liver disease if you have recently had or will or will be having surgery if you have systemic lupus erythematous if you have any other medical conditionDo not use this medicine after the third month of pregnancy. When this medicine is used after the third month of pregnancy, it may cause injury or death to the developing fetus.Most severe:  Severe allergic reaction (swelling of the face, eyes, mouth, lips, and tongue; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; rash; hives); yellowing of the skin or eyes; fainting.Most common:  Lightheadedness; headache; dizziness; cough; fatigue; muscle pain.Other:  Stomach pain; back pain; diarrhea; upper respiratory tract infection; sleeplessness; drowsiness; bronchitis; indigestion; weakness; sore throat; feeling of a whirling motion; flushing; chest pain; joint pain or swelling (gout); infection (fever, chills); nausea; vomiting.
