Description

Indications

Desloratadine is a medication utilized in both adults and children to alleviate symptoms of hay fever and allergies. These symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, and red, itchy, tearing eyes. Desloratadine is also effective in relieving symptoms of urticaria (hives), which presents as red, itchy raised areas on the skin, including itching and rash. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called antihistamines. Itt operates by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that triggers allergic symptoms.

Uses and Dosage

Desloratadine is available in various forms, including tablets, oral solution (liquid), and orally disintegrating tablets, all taken orally. Typically, it is taken once a day, with or without food.

Take desloratadine exactly as directed, avoiding taking more or less of it or taking it more frequently than prescribed by your doctor.

When using the oral solution, use a measuring device, such as a dropper or an oral syringe, to accurately measure the correct amount of solution for each dose. Do not use a household spoon for measurement.

For the orally disintegrating tablet, use dry hands to peel back the foil packaging. Place the tablet immediately on your tongue, and it will rapidly dissolve, allowing you to swallow it with saliva. The orally disintegrating tablets can be taken with or without water.
