Description

Drug Description:

This medicine is used to lower high blood pressure, manage certain kinds of heart failure, or to improve survival after a heart attack in certain patients. It may be used in combination with other blood pressure or heart medications.Store Tablet between 68 to 77 degrees F.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Report any signs or symptoms (swelling of face, extremities, eyes, lips, tongue difficulty in swallowing or breathing) to your health care provider at once and do not take any more of this medication until you talk with your health care provider. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur if you stand up too fast from a lying or sitting position. If this happens, get up slowly and avoid sudden changes in posture. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination or physical dexterity. Report any lightheadedness, especially during the first few days of taking this medication, to your health care provider. If you experience fainting, you should discontinue using this medication until you talk with your health care provider. Consult your health care provider if you experience excessive sweating, feeling dehydrated, vomiting, or diarrhea. This may cause your blood pressure to become too low. Do not use potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes without first talking with your health care provider. Immediately report any sign of infection (sore throat, fever) to your health care provider. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you become pregnant. Black patients may not respond as well as other patients to this medicine. A persistent, nonproductive cough may occur. Tell your health care provider if this occurs. Recovery is rapid when the medication is stopped. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients being treated for high blood pressure often feel tired or rundown for a few weeks after beginning taking blood pressure medications. Continue taking your medication even though you may not feel quite “”normal””. Contact your doctor or pharmacist about any new symptoms. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not stop taking this medication without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider.
