Ammonium lactate is employed for the treatment of dry or scaly skin and ichthyosis vulgaris (an inherited dry skin condition) in both adults and children. Belonging to the category of medications known as alpha-hydroxy acids, ammonium lactate functions by enhancing skin hydration.
Uses and Dosage
Ammonium lactate is available in both cream and lotion forms for topical application on the skin. Typically, it is recommended to be applied twice daily to the affected skin area. Use ammonium lactate consistently at approximately the same times each day. Adhere to the prescription label instructions.
Before each use of the lotion, shake the container well to ensure uniform mixing of the medication.
To apply ammonium lactate topical, use a small amount of the cream or lotion, covering the affected skin area and gently rubbing it in.
This medication is intended for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, vaginal area, and refrain from swallowing it.
