Description

Indications

Flupenthixol is employed for the treatment of mental/mood conditions, including schizophrenia and psychosis. This medication facilitates clearer thinking, reduces hallucinations and negative thoughts, and enhances the ability to function in daily life. Flupentixol falls under the class of medications known as thioxanthenes and is categorized as a neuroleptic. Its mechanism of action involves influencing the balance of natural substances in the brain.

Uses and Dosage

Administer this medication orally, with or without food, according to your doctor’s instructions, typically three times daily.

The dosage is determined based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your doctor will adjust the dose to identify the most effective amount for you. Initially, your doctor may recommend a low dose, with gradual increases to minimize the risk of side effects like stiff muscles. Adhere closely to your doctor’s instructions.

Consistently take this medication to maximize its benefits. Establish a routine by taking it at the same times each day. The full therapeutic effects may not manifest immediately; it might take 2 to 4 weeks before experiencing the complete benefits.

Avoid discontinuing this medication without consulting your doctor, as stopping it abruptly could worsen your condition. If a reduction in dosage is necessary, your doctor will guide you through a gradual decrease.

Inform your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen.
