Indications
Sodium fluoride is employed to prevent cavities by enhancing the strength of teeth and making them more resistant to decay triggered by acid and bacteria. Oral fluoride does not replace good dental habits. These include eating a good diet, brushing and flossing the teeth often, and having regular dental checkups.
Uses and Dosage
Follow your doctor’s or dentist’s instructions when using this medication, typically once or twice daily, upon waking and just before bedtime.
Begin by thoroughly brushing your teeth with toothpaste and rinsing as usual. Then, using a toothbrush or mouth tray, apply a thin ribbon of the medication to your teeth.
Allow the medication to remain on your teeth for at least 1 minute.
After use, spit out the medication; do not swallow it. Children should rinse their mouths thoroughly immediately afterward. For adults, refrain from rinsing your mouth, eating, or drinking for at least 30 minutes after application to achieve optimal results.
Consistently use this medication to derive the maximum benefit from it. Establish a routine by using it at the same time each day to help you remember.
Side Effects
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention:

- hives
- itching
- red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever
- wheezing
- tightness in the chest or throat

- severe upset stomach
- throwing up
