Description

Indications

Minoxidil solution and foam are utilized to promote hair growth for the treatment of male pattern baldness. It is not intended for use on baldness at the front of the scalp or a receding hairline in men. This medication can additionally be employed to stimulate hair growth in women experiencing thinning hair. Minoxidil is classified as a vasodilator medication. The mechanism by which minoxidil induces hair growth is not fully understood.

Uses and Dosage

Minoxidil is available as a liquid to be applied to the scalp, typically twice a day.

Use minoxidil precisely as directed. Avoid using more or less of it or using it more frequently than instructed by your doctor.

Using more than the recommended dose does not enhance or accelerate hair growth and may lead to increased side effects. You must use minoxidil for at least 4 months, potentially up to 1 year, before observing any effects.

The product includes three special applicators: a metered-spray applicator for large scalp areas, an extender spray applicator (used with the metered-spray applicator) for small areas or under the hair, and a rub-on applicator.

To use the extender spray applicator, first assemble the metered-spray applicator, then attach the extender spray applicator following the provided instructions. Pump the metered-spray or extender spray applicator six times for each dose, avoiding inhalation of the mist. Secure the large cap on the metered-spray bottle or the small cap on the extender spray nozzle when not in use.

For the rub-on applicator, hold the bottle upright and squeeze it until the upper chamber of the applicator is filled to the black line. Then, invert the bottle and rub the medication onto the scalp. Place the large cap on the bottle when not in use. If you use your fingertips to apply the medication, wash them thoroughly afterward.

Apply minoxidil to dry hair and scalp only. Avoid application to other body areas and keep it away from your eyes and sensitive skin. If accidental contact occurs with these areas, rinse them with plenty of cool water; contact your doctor if irritation develops.

Do not apply minoxidil to a sunburned or irritated scalp.

FAQ

Do I need to keep using Rogaine to see results?

Yes. If you want to keep the new hair you’ve grown after starting Rogaine, you’ll have to continue to use it. If you stop Rogaine, your new hair can start to fall out after a few months.

Can Rogaine cause hair loss?

Some people experience hair shedding the first couple of weeks after starting Rogaine. Hair shedding is what happens when old hair falls out to make room for new hair growth.
