Indications
Clemastine is employed to alleviate symptoms associated with hay fever and allergies, including sneezing, runny nose, and red, itchy, tearing eyes. It is also utilized to relieve the itching and swelling associated with hives. Clemastine belongs to a class of medications known as antihistamines, acting by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body responsible for causing allergic symptoms.
Uses and Dosage
Take this medication orally, with or without food, typically every 4 to 6 hours as needed or as prescribed by your doctor.
If you are using the liquid form of this medication, use a specialized measuring device or spoon to carefully measure the dose. Avoid using a household spoon, as it may not provide the accurate dose. If the liquid form is a suspension, shake the bottle well before each dose.
The prescribed dosage is determined based on factors such as your age, medical condition, and response to treatment.
Do not exceed the recommended dose, take it more frequently, or use it for a longer duration than instructed by your doctor.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists for more than 1 week, worsens, or if it is accompanied by a persistent headache, rash, or fever lasting more than 3 days. These symptoms could indicate a serious medical issue that requires attention from a doctor.

Caution
- Before using this product, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies you may have, as it may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other issues.
- If you have certain health conditions, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. These conditions include breathing problems, diabetes, glaucoma, heart problems, high blood pressure, liver disease, overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), and urination problems.
- This drug may induce dizziness. The consumption of alcohol or marijuana can intensify this effect. Refrain from activities requiring alertness, such as driving or using machinery, until you can do so safely.
- Certain brands of this product may contain sugar, alcohol, or aspartame. If you have conditions such as diabetes, alcohol dependence, liver disease, phenylketonuria (PKU), or any other condition requiring you to limit or avoid these substances in your diet, exercise caution. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for guidance on using this product safely.
- Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially excitation and agitation.
- Older adults may be more susceptible to the side effects of this drug, including fast/irregular heartbeat, dizziness, problems urinating, trouble sleeping, or confusion.
- During pregnancy, use this medication only when clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- This medication may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
