Description

Description

Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) Is an antiviral medicine typically prescribed to treat chronic (long-lasting) hepatitis B virus (HBV) in adults with compensated liver disease. This medication may help to reduce the quantity of HBV in your body and enhance your liver health.

Viread vs. Vemlidy

  • Viread is a safe and efficient antiviral for hepatitis B, although it can cause renal difficulties and bone loss in those who are vulnerable. This medication is less harmful to the kidneys and bones than Viread, although it can raise cholesterol levels.
  • Hepatitis B and HIV are treated with this medication (in combination with other HIV antiretrovirals). This medication is a newer version of Viread.

Vemlidy vs. Entecavir

  • Both medicines are used to treat hepatitis B. However, this medication might be a better choice if you’ve taken other oral drugs for hepatitis B before or also have HIV.
  • This medication may not be the best choice for people with severe kidney damage while Entecavir is a safer option for patients with kidney damage
