Kenalog Cream

Kenalog is a corticosteroid used for treating/reducing redness, itching and swelling associated with many skin conditions.

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine; if you have other medical conditions; if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or similar medications; if you have tuberculosis, viral or fungal skin infections.

Special warnings/precautions

  • Avoid using plastic bandages, dressings, or diapers (occlusive) that stop circulation of air to the area under treatment.
  • Kenalog cream is for external use only. If you get this medicine in your eyes, immediately flush with cool tap water.
  • Do not use Kenalog cream for other skin conditions.
  • Use with caution in children, they may be more sensitive to its effects and it may affect growth rate.

Tell your doctor if you

  • have a skin infection, the measles, or chickenpox
  • have thinning of the skin
  • have tuberculosis (TB), a positive TB skin test
  • have shingles, or have recently had a vaccination
  • are pregnant, breast-feeding
  • have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

Kenalog Side Effects

Most severe: Burning, itching, irritation, dryness, acne-like eruptions, hypo pigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae and millaria.

Most common: Burning, itching, redness, or a rash.

Ribavirin

Ribavirin is used in combination with interferon to treat chronic hepatitis C infection. Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes swelling or enlargement of the liver. Ribavirin works by reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in your body, which may help your liver recover.

This drug may also be used to treat severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine; if you have any other medical conditions. Do not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine.

Warnings/precautions:

  • Ribavirin should never be used alone to treat hepatitis C infections.
  • Do not take Ribavirin if you have a history of serious or uncontrolled heart problems.
  • Ribavirin may cause birth defects and/or death in unborn babies that are exposed to it during pregnancy. If you or your sexual partner are or may be pregnant, do not take this medicine.
  • It is not effective for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection.
  • Use caution while driving or operating any machinery as it may cause drowsiness or dizziness.

Before using Ribavirin tell your doctor:

  • if you have a female sexual partner who is of childbearing age
  • if you have a history of cancer, heart problems or heart attack, high blood pressure, kidney problems, diabetes, pancreas problems, lung or breathing problems, sarcoidosis, blood problems (eg, anemia), thyroid problems, or HIV infection
  • if you have liver problems such as hepatitis B infection, cirrhosis of the liver, or decreased liver function
  • if you have a history of anxiety or other mood or mental disorders, thoughts of suicide, or suicidal behavior
  • if you have used interferon before to treat hepatitis C and it did not work
  • if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse

Ribavirin side effects

Cough, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, loss of appetite, weight loss, changes in ability to taste food, dry mouth, difficulty concentrating, difficulty, falling asleep or staying asleep, memory loss, rash, dry, irritated, or itchy skin, sweating, painful or irregular menstruation, muscle or bone pain, hair loss.

Noroxin

Noroxin is an antibiotic that is used to treat adults with mild to moderate infections such as lower respiratory tract infections, including chronic bronchitis and pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (except syphilis), pelvic inflammatory disease, and infections of the urinary tract, prostate gland, and skin caused by certain bacteria.

Before using Noroxin discuss with your doctor what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants (‘blood thinners’) and vitamins. Also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

  • Noroxin should be used with caution by any person who has had a seizure. Since Noroxin is passed from the body mostly by the kidney, it should be used with caution by people with reduced kidney function.
  • While taking Noroxin, be careful about how much time you spend in the sun. Stop taking the medication if sun sensitivity occurs.
  • Noroxin is not given for the treatment of syphilis.
  • Do not stop taking this medication even if you feel better. Stopping too soon may cause your symptoms to return.
  • This medicine can cause convulsions, increased pressure in the head, psychosis, tremors, restlessness, light-headedness, nervousness, confusion, depression, nightmares, insomnia, hallucinations, dizziness, light headedness, inflammation of the bowels, and rupture in the muscle tendons in your hand, shoulder, or heel.

Before using this medicine, discuss with your doctor if you:

  • are dehydrated
  • have kidney disease
  • may have long exposure to sunlight
  • have seizures (convulsions)
  • have stomach problems (especially colitis)
  • have a history of stroke
  • have pain or soreness in a tendon
  • are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or are breast-feeding

Noroxin Side Effects

Most common: Abdominal or stomach pain or discomfort, diarrhea (mild), dizziness, drowsiness, headache, lightheadedness, nausea or vomiting, nervousness, trouble sleeping, vaginal pain and discharge.

Less common or rare: Back pain, change in taste sensation, difficulty with urination, increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight, muscle pain, sore mouth or tongue, white patches in mouth or on tongue, vaginal yeast infection, vision problems.
