Drug Description:

This medicine is used for high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure.Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from moisture, heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications if you have asthma, certain serious heart conditions, or liver disease.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problemContact your health care professional immediately if you have difficulty breathing while taking this medicine. This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires mental alertness until you know how carvedilol affects you. To reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly. Alcohol can make you more drowsy, and increase flushing and rapid heartbeats. Therefore, it is best to avoid alcoholic drinks.Most severe: Allergy, blood in urine, dark stools, feeling of illness, gum disease, high blood pressure, impotence, increased sweating, infection, kidney problems, lack of sensitivity to touch, palpitation, reddish or purplish spots, shortness of breath, sleepiness, tingling or numbness, trouble sleeping, vertigo, weight lossMost common: Back pain, bronchitis, chest pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, fever, headache, increased blood sugar levels, joint pain, low blood pressure, muscle aches, nausea, pain, respiratory infection, sinus problems, slow heartbeat, sore throat, swelling, urinary infection, vision changes, vomiting, weakness, weight gainOther: Abnormal thinking, anemia, asthma, changeable emotions, convulsions, decreased sex drive in males, digestive bleeding, dry mouth, hair loss, hearing problems, heart problems, impaired concentration, increased urination, itching, memory loss, migraine, nervousness, paralysis, rapid heartbeat, rash, ringing in ears, sensitivity to light, skin flaking, slow movement, wheezing, worsening of depression
