Chlorthalidone may reduce potassium levels in the blood. Discuss the possibility of adding potassium to your diet with your doctor, who may prescribe a potassium supplement.
Be cautious of increased sun sensitivity while using this medication. Minimize sun exposure, avoid tanning booths and sunlamps, and wear protective clothing and sunscreen when outdoors. In case of sunburn or skin blisters/redness, promptly notify your doctor.
Older adults may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication, particularly dizziness.
During pregnancy, use this medication only when the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. Engage in a thorough discussion with your doctor regarding the potential risks and benefits.
If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before initiating chlorthalidone treatment, as this medication passes into breast milk. Your doctor can provide guidance on whether it is safe to breastfeed while using this medication.
