Description

Indications

The combination of amlodipine and benazepril is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure. Amlodipine belongs to the class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers, which function by relaxing the blood vessels and reducing the workload of the heart. Benazepril is categorized as an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, which operates by reducing the levels of specific chemicals responsible for tightening the blood vessels, thus facilitating smoother blood flow.

Uses and Dosage

The combined medication of amlodipine and benazepril is supplied in the form of capsules intended for oral consumption. It is typically ingested once a day. Ttake it at approximately the same time daily to aid in recollection.

Amlodipine and benazepril should be taken precisely as directed, and one should not exceed the prescribed dose or take it more frequently than directed by a physician.

While amlodipine and benazepril can help control high blood pressure, it does not provide a cure. Continue taking the medication as prescribed even if one feels fine. Abruptly discontinuing amlodipine and benazepril should only be undertaken after consulting with your doctor.

Prior to taking this medication, inform your physician or pharmacist if you have an allergy to amlodipine or benazepril, other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers such as nisoldipine, nifedipine, other ACE inhibitors like captopril, lisinopril, or if you have any other allergies. Inactive ingredients in this product may cause allergic reactions or other complications.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist of your medical history, particularly if you have had an allergic reaction that included swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, liver disease, blood filtering procedures such as LDL apheresis, dialysis, or a specific structural heart problem known as aortic stenosis.

This medication may cause dizziness. Drinking alcohol or using marijuana may intensify this effect. Refrain from driving, operating machinery, or performing activities that require alertness until you can do so safely.

Sweating excessively, diarrhea, or vomiting may lead to dehydration and increase the likelihood of lightheadedness. Inform your doctor if you have prolonged diarrhea or vomiting. Drink enough fluids to prevent dehydration unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

This product may elevate your potassium levels. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium.

The elderly may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication, including dizziness, increases in potassium level, and changes in the amount of urine (kidney problems).

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not become pregnant while taking this medication, as benazepril may harm an unborn baby. If you become pregnant, speak with your doctor about the advantages and disadvantages of this medication.
