Drug Description:

This medicine is used to treat eye and ear infections.Store between 59 to 86 degrees F.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. For eye infections, instill one or two drops of solution into the eye every hour during the day and every 2 hours during the night as initial therapy. For ear infections, clean the ear canal completely and sponge dry. Instill the solution directly into the ear canal. Place three to four drops two or three times a day. If preferred, the ear canal can be packed with a gauze wick that has be soaked in the solution. Keep it wet with the solution and move after 12 to 24 hours. Some of these products may contain sulfite preservatives, which can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals (eg, asthma patients). Check package label when available or consult your health care provider or pharmacist. Do not allow the tip of the bottle to come in contact with the eye or surrounding area. This medicine, if handled improperly, can become contaminated with bacteria that can cause eye infections. Serious eye damage and loss of vision can result from these infections. Contact your health care provider at once if you develop another eye condition (such as trauma, eye surgery, or infection) while taking this medicine. It may be necessary to stop using this medicine. Patients with soft contact lenses should wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before inserting their lenses. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider.
