Description
Indications
The combination of triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the management of hypertension and edema in patients presenting with hypokalemia or those at risk of hazardous potassium depletion. Classified as diuretics, this medication duo operates by facilitating renal excretion of surplus water and sodium, thereby promoting a reduction in fluid retention within the body.
Uses and Dosage
Triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide are available in capsule and tablet forms for oral administration. Typically, it is taken once daily at a consistent time.
Strictly follow the prescribed dosage without exceeding or reducing it, and avoid taking it more frequently than advised by your doctor.
While this medication effectively manages high blood pressure and edema, it does not offer a cure for these conditions. Continue taking triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide even if you feel well. Discontinuing the medication should only be done under the guidance of your doctor.
