Description
Omnaris (ciclesonide) is a synthetic steroid that suppresses the release of inflammatory substances in the body. This medication is also used to treat nasal symptoms caused by year-round allergies in adults and children over the age of 12 and nasal symptoms caused by seasonal allergies in children as young as 6 years old and in adults.
Once primed, each pump actuation releases Omnaris Nasal Spray 50 mcg ciclesonide from the nasal actuator in a volume of 70 microliters.
Omnaris Dose:
Allergic Rhinitis During the Season
- For adults and children aged 6 and up 2 sprays per nostril once a day is the suggested dose of Omnaris Nasal Spray (200 mcg).
- The total daily dosage should not exceed two sprays per nostril (200 mcg).
Allergic Rhinitis that Reoccurs
- Adults and adolescents (12 years old and older) should use 2 sprays per nostril once daily (200 mcg).
- The total daily dosage should not exceed two sprays per nostril (200 mcg).
Direction
- Gently blow your nose. Maintain your head upright and push the bottle’s tip into one nostril. Close the other nostril with your finger. Inhale deeply and gently spritz the drug into your nose. Then spray the other nostril.
- After spraying, refrain from blowing your nose for a few minutes.
- Use the nasal spray no more than once daily.
- If the spray goes in your eyes, mouth, or skin, rinse with water.
Omnaris Side Effects
If you have any of the following symptoms, contact your doctor right away:
- Runny or bloody nose, crusting inside the nose, and a whistling sound when breathing;
- Blisters or white areas inside or near your nose;
- Flu symptoms
- Blurred or tunnel vision, another eye discomfort
- Worsening weakness, lightheadedness, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, and weight loss
Caution
- Inform your doctor if you have asthma, glaucoma, tuberculosis, or other lung infection, an open nasal sore, or recent nose injury or surgery before using this medication. Advise your doctor if you are using any other steroid medications: oral, inhaled, or injected
- It could take two days for symptoms to improve. Continue taking the medication and notify your doctor if symptoms persist after 2 to 5 weeks.
