Description

Indications

Propylthiouracil belongs to a group of medications known as antithyroid agents and is utilized to manage hyperthyroidism. This is a health condition that manifests when the thyroid gland generates an excessive amount of thyroid hormone, leading to an accelerated metabolism and the onset of specific symptoms.

Propylthiouracil is appropriate for treating hyperthyroidism in adults as well as children aged six years or older. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the production of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland.
