Drug Description:
This medicine is for the prevention and treatment of asthma in adults and children 6 years of age and older.Store between 59 to 86 degrees F. Protect from light and moisture.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount andperor frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take this medicine once daily in the evening. Take this medicine as prescribed, even when you feel no symptoms of asthma. Call your health care provider if your asthma is not controlled. This medication is not for the relief of asthma attacks. If an attack happens, follow the instructions given to you by your health care provider. If you experience asthma, use your prescribed rescue medicine (eg, albuterol). Continue to take your usual dose of medicines prescribed to you for the prevention of asthma unless told to do otherwise by your health care provider. Patients who are sensitive to aspirin should continue to avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (eg, Tylenol , Advil ) while taking this medicine. Phenylketonuric patients – This medicine contains phenylalanine. This medicine may be taken with or without food in the evening. Do not decrease or stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine such as phenylalanineBefore using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription, nonprescription medicine, or dietary supplement if you have any other medical conditionThis medicine alleviates the symptoms of asthma, but it does not stop an acute asthma attackMost severe: Severe allergic reaction; Churg-Strauss syndrome.Most common: Headache; flu.Other: Stomach pain; cough; stomach upset; abnormal dreams; drowsiness; irritability or restlessness.
