Indications

Sinecatechins are employed to manage warts located on and around the genital and anal areas. These warts are a result of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Sinecatechins consist of natural components present in specific green tea leaves. The exact mechanism of action for this medication is still unknown.

Uses and Dosage

Apply this medication exclusively on the skin. Ensure you wash your hands both before and after application. Follow your doctor’s instructions for applying the ointment to all warts, typically three times a day. Use a small amount, approximately 0.2 inches (0.5 centimeters), and ensure each wart is thoroughly covered with a thin layer using your finger. Do not rinse off any residual ointment from the previous treatment before reapplying. Always reapply the ointment after your regular baths or showers. Do not cover the treated area with bandages or other waterproof dressings; you can use cotton gauze or cotton underwear to cover the area if needed. Adhere to the prescribed frequency and duration of use – avoid using it more often or for longer than instructed.

For male patients who are uncircumcised and treating warts beneath the foreskin, it’s important to retract the foreskin and clean the area daily before applying this medication.

Women who use tampons should insert the tampon before applying the ointment. If you need to change the tampon while the ointment is on your skin, take care not to get the ointment inside the vagina.

Refrain from applying this medication inside the vagina or anus or on open sores. Additionally, avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth while the ointment is on your finger. In the event of contact with these areas, flush with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, promptly contact your doctor.

While using this product, abstain from sexual contact, as it may weaken condoms and vaginal diaphragms, increasing the risk of pregnancy and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including genital warts. Prior to sexual activity, wash off the product. Consult your doctor regarding safer sex practices.

To maximize its effectiveness, use this medication consistently. Continue treatment until the warts have disappeared. Do not use it for longer than 16 weeks unless your doctor advises otherwise. If your condition does not improve or new warts appear, inform your doctor.

Side Effects

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention:

• blisters
• burning
• itching
• redness
• swelling

Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any serious side effects:

• breakdown of skin
• intense burning of skin
• cracking of skin
• flushing, redness of skin
• hardening or thickening of skin
• irritation of skin
• itching skin
• pain or discomfort in skin
• swelling of skin
• unusually warm skin

Caution

Before using this product, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies you may have, including allergies to green tea or other substances. This product might contain inactive components that can trigger allergic reactions or other complications.

Prior to using this medication, share your medical history with your doctor or pharmacist, particularly if you have had open sores in the treatment area, recent or unhealed treatments or wounds in the wart area, or if you have an immune system disorder.

Please be aware that this product may cause stains on clothing and bedding.

Avoid exposing the treated area to sunlight, tanning booths, or sunlamps.

Genital and anal warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). This product does not eliminate the virus but aids in the removal of the warts themselves. Even during treatment, new warts may emerge.

You could potentially infect any sexual partner who comes into contact with the areas of skin infected with HPV. To minimize the risk of spreading HPV to others, always use effective barrier protections, such as latex or polyurethane condoms, and dental dams during all sexual activity. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

During the treatment of genital and anal warts, avoid all sexual contact while the ointment is on your skin. Keep in mind that the ointment may weaken condoms, dental dams, and diaphragms, potentially reducing their effectiveness in preventing pregnancy or the spread of HPV or other sexually transmitted diseases like HIV.

If you are pregnant, use this medication only when it is clearly necessary and after discussing the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is currently unknown whether this drug passes into breast milk. Before breastfeeding, consult your doctor.

How long should I use Veregen?

You should use Veregen until your warts are clear or otherwise instructed by your provider, but not longer than 4 months.

How do you know when Veregen treatment is complete?

The wart should peel away in stages until it is as flat as the skin. If this does not happen, the treatment may not be working.
