Description

Indications

Fluocinolone acetonide is employed for the treatment of eczema affecting the outer ear, commonly referred to as chronic itchy ear. The primary symptom is itchiness, accompanied by potential manifestations of redness, flaking, or oozing.

Fluocinolone, a low- to medium-strength corticosteroid, works to alleviate these symptoms, providing relief in the management of eczema in the outer ear.

Uses and Dosage

To administer ear drops, begin by washing your hands. To prevent contamination, refrain from touching the dropper tip or allowing it to come into contact with your ear or any surfaces. Lie on your side or tilt the affected ear upward. Direct the dropper over the ear, placing the recommended number of drops into the ear canal, usually twice a day or as per your doctor’s instructions. When administering drops to an adult, aid the process by holding the earlobe up and back; for children, hold the earlobe down and back. Maintain the head tilt for about 1 minute, or if directed, insert a soft cotton plug and remove it after 1 minute.

Repeat the process for the other ear if instructed.

Do not rinse the dropper, and secure the cap after use. Refrain from bandaging, covering, or wrapping the area unless advised by your doctor.

Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. If the medication comes into contact with these areas, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

The dosage is determined by your medical condition and response to the treatment.

Consistency is key for optimal results; use the medication at the same times each day to help with adherence.

Use the medication only for the prescribed condition and duration. Avoid prolonged use beyond what is prescribed.

If your condition persists or worsens after two weeks, inform your doctor.
