Description

Indications

Perindopril and amlodipine is a combination of medicines that are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly.

Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten. This relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. This also relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.

Uses and Dosage

Ingest this medication orally, with or without food, following your doctor’s instructions, typically once daily.

To minimize the risk of side effects, your doctor may advise you to initiate this product at a low dose and then gradually increase it. Adhere closely to your doctor’s guidance.

The prescribed dosage is contingent on your medical condition and how you respond to the treatment.

Consistently take this medication to derive the maximum benefit. To facilitate adherence, take it at the same time every day, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often doesn’t present noticeable symptoms. Continue taking the medication as directed.

It may take 1 to 2 weeks before you experience the full therapeutic effects of this drug.

Inform your doctor if your condition doesn’t improve or if it worsens, as indicated by persistent or increasing blood pressure readings.

Inactive ingredients in the product may also trigger allergic reactions or other complications.
  • Prior to using this medication, disclose your medical history to your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you have a history of allergic reactions involving swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema), undergone blood filtering procedures like LDL apheresis or dialysis, have a high level of potassium in the blood, a specific structural heart problem (aortic stenosis), liver disease, or a history of dehydration.
  • This medication may induce dizziness. Consumption of alcohol or marijuana can intensify this dizziness. Avoid activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, until you can do them safely.

FAQ

Will Prestalia make me urinate more often?

No. While it’s common for some blood pressure medications to include diuretics (water pills), this one does not. Prestalia contains an ACE inhibitor (perindopril) and a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine), which work differently than water pills to lower your blood pressure.

Does Prestalia cause weight gain?

Prestalia doesn’t cause weight gain. However, this medication might cause your body to hold onto water in your legs or ankles, a side effect called edema.
