Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure, kidney function impairment, liver function impairment or respiratory problems
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Vytorin/Ezetimibe/Simvastatin?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with this medicine. The interaction could lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor.
What are the side effects of Vytorin/Ezetimibe/Simvastatin?
Most severe: Allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives), decreased urine or rust-colored urine, blurred vision.
Most common: Gas, bloating, nausea, stomach upset, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation, or diarrhea, cough, tiredness, headache; or insomnia.
Other: Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by a fever or flulike symptoms or yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, unexplained fatigue, dark colored urine or pale colored stools. These may be early symptoms of muscle o
How should I take Vytorin/Ezetimibe/Simvastatin?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. taken two hours before or six hours after taking these products. Your doctor may want to monitor cholesterol levels, liver function, or other factors with blood tests before starting and during treatment with this medcine. This medicine may increase the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, and burning may result. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen if exposure to the sun is unavoidable. Depending on the results of these tests, your doctor can determine how much monitoring you will require. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.
