Indications
Triethanolamine salicylate functions as a topical analgesic, providing relief from pain. When applied to the skin, it works by inhibiting a specific enzyme that triggers the release of pain and inflammation-causing chemicals. By blocking this enzyme, it alleviates discomfort in muscles and joints.
Uses and Dosage
This medication is intended solely for skin application.
Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or vaginal area. In case of accidental exposure, flush the affected area with water thoroughly.
Apply the medication to the affected region no more than 3 to 4 times daily. Gently and completely massage it into the skin.
After application, wash your hands unless treating the hands specifically.
Avoid using this medication on broken or irritated skin. Refrain from bandaging or tightly wrapping the area, or applying heat (such as with a heating pad), as it may heighten the risk of side effects.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists beyond 7 days, worsens, or recurs frequently. Seek immediate medical assistance if you suspect a serious medical issue.
Side Effects
Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any serious side effects:
- blistering/peeling/redness/irritation at the application site
- nausea/vomiting
- ringing in the ears
- rash
- itching/swelling of the face/tongue/throat
- severe dizziness
- trouble breathing
Caution
- Prior to using trolamine salicylate, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies you have, especially to aspirin, other salicylates (like salsalate), or any other substances in the product. Inactive ingredients in the product may trigger allergic reactions or other complications.
- Before starting this medication, discuss your medical history with your doctor or pharmacist, particularly if you have asthma or nasal polyps.
- This medication shares similarities with aspirin. Children and adolescents under 18 years old should avoid using it if they have chickenpox, flu, or any undiagnosed illness, or if they have recently received a vaccine. In such instances, using this medication may elevate the risk of Reye’s syndrome, a rare but severe illness.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. This medication can harm an unborn baby and interfere with normal labor and delivery. It’s generally not recommended for use during pregnancy from the 20th week until delivery. If your doctor deems it necessary to use this medication between the 20th and 30th weeks of pregnancy, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration possible. Avoid using this medication after the 30th week of pregnancy.

- It’s uncertain whether this product passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
