Description

Indications

The combination of enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide is employed in the treatment of high blood pressure. Enalapril belongs to the class of medications known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Its mechanism of action involves the reduction of specific chemicals that constrict blood vessels, promoting smoother blood flow.

Hydrochlorothiazide, on the other hand, falls under the category of diuretics, commonly referred to as ‘water pills.’ It operates by prompting the kidneys to eliminate excess water and salt from the body, facilitating their excretion through urine. The synergistic effect of enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide helps manage high blood pressure by addressing different aspects of blood vessel constriction and fluid balance.

Uses and Dosage

Take this medication orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. If taken too close to bedtime, it may lead to an increased need to wake up for urination. For optimal results, it’s recommended to take this medication at least 4 hours before bedtime.

If you are concurrently using cholestyramine or colestipol, ensure a time gap of at least 4 hours before or after taking enalapril/hydrochlorothiazide in relation to these medications.

The dosage is determined by your medical condition and response to treatment. Take this medication consistently at the same time each day to maximize its benefits. It may take several weeks before experiencing the full advantages of this medication. Continue taking it even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often presents no noticeable symptoms.

Keep your doctor informed if your condition does not improve or worsens, indicated by sustained or increased blood pressure readings. Regular communication with your healthcare provider is essential for optimal management of your health.

Inactive ingredients in the product may cause allergic reactions or other complications.

FAQ

How long does it take for Vaseretic to work?

Vaseretic starts to kick in within 1 hour, but it can take 4 to 6 hours for the medication to be fully absorbed by the body. It can take a few weeks of using Vaseretic for it to fully kick in and give consistent results.

Does Vaseretic cause weight loss?

Vaseretic is not a weight loss medication. The hydrochlorothiazide (water pill) that is in this combo medication causes you to urinate more to get rid of extra fluid in your body. This can cause weight loss, but this is water weight and not fat loss.
