Description

Indications

Brimonidine topical is prescribed for the treatment of a specific skin condition known as rosacea. Its mechanism of action involves the constriction of blood vessels to diminish redness. Brimonidine is classified under the category of drugs referred to as alpha agonists.

Uses and Dosage

This medication is designed exclusively for topical use on the skin. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, lips, or any areas with broken or irritated skin, including after laser treatment, as well as in and around the vaginal area.

Before and after applying this medication, ensure your hands are clean. Prepare the affected area by cleaning and drying it before applying the medication. Following your doctor’s instructions, typically once daily, apply a pea-sized amount of the medication to specific areas such as the forehead, chin, nose, and each cheek. Gently spread a thin layer of the medication over the designated area.

For optimal results, use this medication consistently. Establish a routine by applying it at the same time each day. To minimize the risk of side effects, your doctor may advise starting with a smaller amount and gradually increasing the dose. Adhere to your doctor’s guidance closely.

Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition or if it worsens.

Store this medicine in a secure location to prevent accidental use or misuse. In cases of accidental ingestion by children, serious side effects such as difficulty breathing, weakness, slow heartbeat, confusion, and sweating have been reported. Seek immediate medical assistance if a child swallows this medication.
