Description

Indications

Mirabegron is indicated for the treatment of specific bladder disorders, including overactive bladder and neurogenic detrusor overactivity.

Overactive bladder is a condition where there is an issue with the storage of urine in the bladder, while neurogenic detrusor overactivity is caused by disruptions in the brain, spinal cord, or nerves. These conditions can result in frequent urination, strong and uncontrollable urges to urinate, or involuntary loss of urine (incontinence).

Mirabegron functions by relaxing the detrusor muscle in the bladder, enabling the bladder to store more urine and alleviating the symptoms associated with overactive bladder and neurogenic detrusor overactivity.

Uses and Dosage

Mirabegron is available in the form of an extended-release tablet and extended-release suspension for oral administration. The recommended dose for adults is to take the tablet once daily with or without food. Children are advised to take the tablet with food, once daily.

The extended-release suspension is to be taken with food, once daily. The extended-release tablets should be swallowed whole with water, without splitting, chewing, or crushing. Maintain a consistent dosing schedule and follow the instructions provided on the prescription label closely.

To accurately measure the dose of the extended-release suspension, use the provided oral dosing device. The bottle should be shaken vigorously for one minute, then allowed to stand for one to two minutes until the foam on top of the suspension has dissipated. If the granules have not mixed well, repeat the shaking process. Using the oral dosing device, measure the suspension, disregarding any bubbles in the measurement. The prepared dose should be used within one hour and should not be saved for later use.

Mirabegron is not a cure for overactive bladder or neurogenic detrusor overactivity, but rather a control for symptoms. The full benefit of Mirabegron may take eight weeks or longer to be felt. It is important to continue taking Mirabegron even if you feel well and to not discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor.
