Direction
- Follow your doctor’s instructions for using Dostinex. Take it twice a week orally. This is typically taken twice a week for a minimum of six months. Dosage is changed every four weeks, based on blood tests for prolactin levels.
- 1 mg of physiological lactation inhibition given as a single dosage on the first postpartum day. 0.25 mg every 12 hours for 2 days to suppress established lactation Hyperprolactinemia: Start with Dostinex 0.5 mg in 1 or 2 doses, then gradually increase by 0.5 mg/week at monthly intervals. 0.25-2 mg/week is the therapeutic range.
Dostinex Side Effects
The most common adverse effects are:

- Somnolence, palpitations, epigastric discomfort, epistaxis & transitory hemianopsia, syncope are all symptoms of lactation inhibition or suppression.
- Hyperprolactinemic illnesses include dyspepsia/gastritis, lethargy, constipation, breast soreness, depression, and paresthesia.
