Description

Indications

This medication is prescribed to manage high blood pressure, aiming to lower it and thereby reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It comprises two active ingredients: cilazapril and hydrochlorothiazide. Cilazapril, classified as an ACE inhibitor, functions by easing the tension in blood vessels, facilitating smoother blood circulation throughout the body. Hydrochlorothiazide, also known as a thiazide diuretic, boosts urine production, eliminating excess water and salt from the body. This process contributes to the relaxation of blood vessels, further enhancing blood flow.

Uses and Dosage

Take this medication orally with or without food as directed by your doctor, typically once or twice daily. If you ingest this medication too close to bedtime, it may prompt you to wake up to urinate. You should take this medication at least 4 hours before bedtime.

If you are also using cholestyramine or colestipol, ensure there’s a gap of at least 4 hours before or after taking cilazapril/hydrochlorothiazide.

The prescribed dosage is contingent upon your medical condition and response to treatment.

Maintain regular use of this medication to maximize its benefits. To aid in remembering, take it at the same time(s) each day.

Continue taking this medication even if you feel well, as many individuals with high blood pressure do not experience symptoms of illness. It may take several weeks before the full therapeutic effects of this drug become apparent.

Inform your doctor if your condition worsens, such as an increase in routine blood pressure readings.
