Description

Indications

Tavaborole topical solution is prescribed for the treatment of fungal toenail infections, which may manifest as nail discoloration, splitting, or pain. It belongs to a class of medications known as antifungals, acting by inhibiting the growth of nail fungus.

Uses and Dosage

Before applying this medication, ensure the infected toenail(s) are cleaned and thoroughly dried. Use the medication exclusively on the affected toenail(s) as instructed by your doctor, typically once daily for 48 weeks. If applying to a child, an adult should administer the medication.

Using the provided dropper, dispense the solution onto the infected toenail(s). Gently squeeze the bulb to apply enough solution to cover the entire toenail. Use the dropper tip to spread the medication evenly over the toenail, ensuring coverage up to the edges and beneath the tip. Repeat this process for each affected toenail. Allow approximately 2 minutes for the solution to completely dry before wearing socks, shoes, or other footwear. If any solution comes into contact with the skin surrounding the toenail(s), use a tissue to wipe off any excess. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after application.

Avoid contact with any other part of your body. In case of accidental contact, promptly wipe off the medication and rinse the area thoroughly with water.

Consistently use this medication to achieve optimal results. To facilitate consistency, apply it at the same time each day. Continue using the medication for the entire duration prescribed, even if symptoms improve within a few days.

Treatment for nail fungus typically requires prolonged use to allow healthy nails to grow and replace the infected toenail(s). Discontinuing the medication prematurely may result in the recurrence of the infection.

Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsens.

FAQ

How long does it take Kerydin Topical Solution to work?

You may start to notice some improvement in your symptoms after a couple months of using Kerydin Topical Solution, but you’ll need to be patient since fungal nail infections always take a long time to treat.

Does Kerydin Topical Solution work on severe toenail fungus?

Nail solutions like Kerydin Topical Solution don’t work particulary well for severe toenail fungal infections, including infections that have been going on for a long time or involve the entire nail. Severe toenail infections usually require other treatments such as oral antifungals, laser, or surgery.
