Ultramop

Ultramop (psoralen photosensitizes) is used to treat the skin conditions such as vitiligo (skin loses its color in irregular patches), psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. It is used along with controlled ultraviolet light (UVA) to help control severe psoriasis.

Important Information

Ultramop may increase risk of developing skin cancer. This medication may cause vision damage, skin cancer, skin aging. When used with ultraviolet light treatments (PUVA), this medication can cause severe skin burns. Protect your skin and lips from sunlight or sunlamps for up to 48 hours after each treatment. Consult your doctor before choosing a sun block.

Inform your doctor if one or more of the following apply to you:

  • Heart or blood vessel disease
  • Problems of porphyria
  • Skin cancer
  • Albinism
  • Pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Allergic to Ultramop or any other ingredients of this medicine
  • Lupus erythematosus
  • History of liver of kidney disease

If you have any of these conditions, you may not be able to use Ultramop.

Dosing

Above 12 years of age: Apply to the affected area of the skin and allow drying for one to two minutes, and then apply again within two to two and one-half hours before UVA exposure.

Under 12 years of age: Consult your doctor.

Storage

Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
