Indications

This combination of clioquinol and hydrocortisone is prescribed to address several skin conditions, including eczema and fungal skin infections like ringworm, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. Clioquinol, also referred to as iodochlorhydroxyquin, acts as an antibiotic by inhibiting the growth of fungus and bacteria. Hydrocortisone, a mild corticosteroid, mitigates swelling, redness, and itching in the affected skin.

Uses and Dosage

Apply this medication exclusively to the skin. Ensure the area to be treated is clean and completely dry. Follow your doctor’s instructions and gently rub a thin layer of the medication onto the affected area, typically 3 to 4 times daily.

After application, wash your hands unless you’re treating the hands themselves. Avoid wrapping, covering, or bandaging the treated area unless directed by your doctor.

Do not apply the medication to the eyes, nose, mouth, or inside the vagina. If accidental contact occurs in these areas, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

Adhere strictly to the prescribed frequency and duration of application. Using the medication more frequently or for longer than prescribed may heighten the risk of side effects.

Consistently apply this medication to derive maximum benefit. Establish a routine by using it at the same times each day.

Continue using this medication until you’ve completed the full prescribed amount, even if symptoms subside within a few days. Discontinuing the medication prematurely could lead to a recurrence of the infection.

Side Effects

• yellow staining of the skin, nails, hair, or fabrics

• stretch marks
• small red bumps on the skin (folliculitis)
• rash
• itching/swelling of the face/tongue/throat
• severe dizziness
• trouble breathing

Caution

• Before initiating this medication, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have allergies to clioquinol, hydrocortisone, other 8-hydroxyquinolines like iodoquinol, other corticosteroids such as triamcinolone, or iodine, or if you have any other allergies. This product might contain inactive ingredients capable of triggering allergic reactions or other complications.
• Prior to using this medication, disclose your medical history to your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you have tuberculosis of the skin, viral skin or eye infections like herpes or chickenpox, immune system disorders, or poor blood circulation.
• This medication may potentially stain clothes, skin, nails, or hair. Use it cautiously to prevent contact with clothing, nails, or hair.
• Children might be more susceptible to the effects of excessive corticosteroid medication. Seek advice from your doctor for additional information.
• During pregnancy, use this medication only when essential. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
• It’s unclear whether this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
