To prevent stomach upset, take mexiletine with food or an antacid. Maintaining a consistent dosing schedule is crucial; thus, it should be taken at approximately the same times each day.
Take mexiletine precisely as directed by your healthcare provider. Avoid taking more or less than prescribed or altering the frequency of administration.
Initiating mexiletine treatment may necessitate hospitalization for careful monitoring by your doctor, a practice that continues as long as you remain on the medication. The initial dose of mexiletine is typically set at an average level, which may be gradually adjusted by your doctor, but no more than once every 2 to 3 days.
