Drug Description:

This medicine is used to treat and replace pancreatic enzymes in patients who do not produce normal amounts.Store at controlled room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees F). Keep in a tight container.How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take this medicine as directed by your health care provider. Swallow tablets whole. Do not crush or chew them. Swallow tablets quickly to lessen the chance of mouth irritation. High doses of this medication may cause loose stools. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you are allergic to pork productsBefore using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal medication, or dietary supplement if you have any other medical conditionIf an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction occurs to this medicine, discontinue the medication and treat the patient symptomatically.Most severe:  Allergic reaction (rash; hives; breathing difficulties; swelling of the mouth, face, and lips); nausea; vomiting. Asthma attack if contents are inhaledMost common:  Rash; loose stools (usually at high doses); bloating; constipation; stomach cramps or pain, nausea.Other: Mouth irritation, extremely high doses of exogenous pancreatic enzymes have been associated with hyperuricemia and hyperuricosuria
