This medication is employed to alleviate symptoms associated with excessive stomach acid, including stomach upset, heartburn, and acid indigestion. Aluminum and magnesium antacids swiftly reduce stomach acid levels. Typically, liquid antacids exhibit faster and more effective results compared to tablets or capsules. It can be used independently or in conjunction with other medications that reduce acid production, such as H2 blockers like cimetidine or ranitidine, and proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole.
Uses and Dosage
Take this medication orally, typically after meals and at bedtime as necessary. Adhere to all the directions on the product packaging or follow your doctor’s instructions.
If you’re consuming chewable tablets, ensure thorough chewing before swallowing, then drink a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters).
For the liquid form of this medication, shake the bottle well before dispensing each dose. Storing the suspension in the refrigerator may enhance its taste. Do not freeze. The liquid form is most effective when taken without additional fluids.
If necessary, you can mix your dose with a small amount of water.
This product may interact with other medications (including digoxin, iron, pazopanib, tetracycline antibiotics, and quinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin), potentially hindering their full absorption by your body. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist how to schedule your medications to avoid this issue.
If your acid-related symptoms persist or worsen after using this product for a week, or if you suspect a severe medical condition, seek medical attention immediately. If you’re using this medication regularly for more than two weeks, it’s possible you may have an underlying medical issue necessitating alternative treatment. Consult your doctor to determine if this medication is suitable for you.
Side Effects

- Before using this product, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to aluminum hydroxide, magnesium, or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other issues.
- Prior to using this product, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any of the following health conditions: frequent alcohol use, dehydration or fluid restriction, kidney problems (including kidney stones).
- This medication may contain aspartame. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition requiring you to limit your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult your doctor or pharmacist about using this medication safely.
- During pregnancy, use this medication only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- This medication may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
