It can additionally address coughs originating from various sources such as throat irritation, asthma, allergies, or hay fever. Its mechanism involves inhibiting certain naturally occurring substances like histamine and acetylcholine produced by the body.
Uses and Dosage
Follow your doctor’s instructions and take this medication orally, typically twice daily after meals and before bedtime. In some cases, it may only be necessary to take it at bedtime.
The dosage is determined by factors such as your age, medical condition, and how you respond to treatment. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or take it more frequently without consulting your doctor.
Consistently take this medication to derive maximum benefit from it. To aid in remembering, take it at the same time(s) each day.

Caution
- Before taking this medication, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have allergies to it, phenothiazines (such as chlorpromazine), or any other substances. This product may contain inactive ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions or other complications.
- Prior to using this medication, disclose your medical history to your doctor or pharmacist, particularly if you have a history of blood disorders, respiratory issues, glaucoma, heart conditions, high blood pressure, liver disease, seizures, gastrointestinal problems, hyperthyroidism, or urinary difficulties.
- This medication may induce dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Alcohol or marijuana can exacerbate these effects. Refrain from driving, operating machinery, or engaging in activities requiring alertness or clear vision until you can do so safely.
- Children may be more susceptible to the side effects of this medication, which can sometimes cause excitement rather than drowsiness in young children.
- Older adults may be more vulnerable to the side effects of this medication, particularly dizziness, drowsiness, and low blood pressure.
- During pregnancy, use this medication only when absolutely necessary. Discuss the potential risks and benefits with your doctor.
- This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
