Smoking While Pregnant May Cause Criminal Children

smoking while pregnant

A recent study suggested that mothers, who puff a pack a day or more while pregnant, run a 30 percent higher risk of having children who become criminal offenders.

Both male and females are likely to gravitate toward crime, and face a higher risk of frequent arrests, if their mothers were heavy smokers during pregnancy.

A study led by Angela Parqadis of the Harvard School of Public Health, reviewed the health and criminal records of 4,000 American adults, who ranged from the ages of 33-40. Through this study, information was gathered about the smoking habits of the mother.

While this study is far from conclusive, the research shows a link between mothers who smoke during pregnancy and children behavioral problems.

Smoking is very difficult to quit cold turkey. Thankfully there are helpful medications available to aid in quitting smoking.
