Choosing the Safest Water Bottle

There are different types of water bottles available at various prices, styles, and materials. Recently it has been revealed that a lot of bottles pose threats to one’s health. Listed below are the safest water bottles of every type of material available.

Thin Plastic Bottles–
Those bottles of water you buy at the grocery store are filled with great healthy water, but the bottle itself contains harmful materials. These harmful chemicals found in many plastic water bottles, food containers, and aluminum soda cans is called Bisphenol A (BPA). It has been linked to cancer, sexual dysfunction, and heart disease. These concerns which were recently raised apply most significantly to children, infants, and fetuses. Over 90 percent of the American population has traces of BPA in their urine.

The safest plastic water bottle available is under the brand name “Nalgene”; they also make “Lexan” water bottles. Other safe brands are Tritan, Kor and Camelbak. All bottles without BPA will have a label saying “BPA free” visible on them. Another way to check your plastic bottle to find if it is safe or not is through the recycling symbol branded on the bottom of the bottle. If the symbol is a number 2, 4 or 5, it is safe to drink from repeatedly. The most common type of water bottle will have a number 1 on the bottom which means you should either not buy these bottles at all or you should only drink from them once.

Durable Plastic Bottles–
These plastic bottles, common for joggers and campers, are one step up from the grocery store bottle. These bottles are made of polycarbonate. A lot of other things are made of polycarbonate as well. Sunglasses, iPods, CD’s, exc. These bottles are the only dangerous polycarbonate material because we drink from it. BPA is also found (in lower amounts) in these durable plastic bottles. It is best not to heat up these bottles as the BPA is released more quickly. Baby bottles are also made out of polycarbonate and are very dangerous.
The best brand for a safe durable plastic bottle is Klean Kanteen. This brand uses very little to no BPA in its material.

Aluminum Bottles–

Sigg is the best brand for aluminum bottles. They have over 144 designs to choose from and have claimed to have 0.0% rate of leaching of BPA. This was found to be untrue but they have made upgrades and are the best company available for safe aluminum bottles (the EcoCare line). Sigg offers a lifetime warranty with each of their water bottles.

Stainless Steel Bottles

Stainless steel bottles are the safest and most highly recommended Klean Kanteen is the best brand, followed by New Wave Enviro, Earthlust, Bilt, thinksport, and Guyot Designs. Stainless steel does not leech, and is extremely durable. Although it is the most expensive option, it is the best and safest one. Stainless steel bottles can be reused for years with no BPA leaching. These water bottles are the greenest choice.

What Will You Die From and When?

Ever wanted to know when you were going to die so you could have a chance to say your final good bye’s? Well maybe we’re getting one step closer. A new calculation machine has been developed to tell you what your chance of dying is, what age you’ll die, and what you are most likely to die from.

This new calculator of death is found on http://www.deathriskrankings.com and to be completely honest, it is a lot of fun to play around with it. You have a few options to choose from, such as your age group, race, location, gender, etc.

The device was designed by many specialists that hold Ph.D.’s in things like economics, engineering, environmental safety, health safety, software application and design, risk analysis, etc. The team that built the death risk ranking system is definitely a group of very qualified people that have devoted a life time worth of work and research and now get another way to demonstrate their abilities.

Overall, the calculator is a fun new tool to show us just how easily and how likely it is for one of us to just be taken from the living, with relative ease I might add. If the accidents don’t get you then heart disease, or a homicide probably will. At least that is my outlook. Not too bright, but I’ll try and stay away from oncoming traffic, McDonald’s, and dark alleyways. I think that sounds like a pretty good idea, guess I’ll have to wait and see how well it works.
